OUR BOOT RANGE -

COMPARE SIZING, STYLE & FITTING

INFO HERE.

Sizing charts are also listed on our shop with the each boot style.

Getting correct sizing is everything with boots.  We cannot stress this fact enough!

If you are still confused after reading this information our staff are happy to help you

call 02 4457 3022 during office hours.

How to Fit graphic 1.  Measure the hoof after a fresh trim & use these measurements for the Easycare range. They already have an allowance in the sizing for the growth period.  Most barefoot horses should be trimmed at least every four weeks.  Some boot styles accommodate a longer period between trims.

2.     For the Equine Fusions -  after a fresh trim - add 5ml to the sizing and if the hoof is between sizes choose the larger size.

Please note if you are looking at purchasing a Glove, Glue-on or Fury boot style then a FIT KIT for that particular style boot will need to he hired beforehand in order to determine the correct sizing for your horse. Using the sizing charts alone will not work.

If purchasing the other boot styles ideally your length and width should fit into the same size range.  If they indicate different sizes select the larger size.  If length and width are different by more than one size your selected boot style is not recommended.  Check to see if another style is more suited to your horse's hoof shape.

3.     Decide which boot style will best suit your purpose. If you have to choose between two styles  then always choose the style that has sizing closest to your hoof measurements.

4.   If your horse is fresh out of long term shoes we recommend one of the more high profile boot styles that enclose more of the hoof capsule & can be used with comfort pads.

5.   Use your measurements and the sizing charts to select the best boot style. Do not choose a boot by its appearance only by matching your measurements as closely as possible to the sizing charts will you attain great fit.

metric rule

Measure with metric - why?

The problem here is two-fold.

First, most of the time when people measure in inches they tend to round to the nearest inch, or fraction of an inch.

Second, one inch does not convert to an even millimetre measurement. One inch is equal to 25.4 millimetres. When rounding your inches measurements, it will obscure your millimetres conversion by nearly 0.5 millimetres.

This may not seem like much, but if you take 0.5 millimetres off of each inch measured, the difference can be quite significant. This is especially an issue when trying to fit a boot, like the Easyboot Glove, which requires precise measurements for a proper fit.  Great fit only comes from accurate measurements taken correctly.

Thanks for helping us, help you, get the most out of your Easycare boots.

Tips for Fitting Success:

  • Aways measure according to the manufacturer's instructions for that particular boot.

  • For Therapy or Soaker boots upsize for bandaging and ease of application.

  • For riding boots always choose the boot whose sizing chart mirrors your hoof shape. Poor fit allows the boots to move and twist when on the horse.  Most of the complaints about boots stem from errors in boot sizing by the owner not from boot failures.  Boots are generally exceptionally tough.

  • If you have a hoof with flares or distortions then choose a boot that accommodates these. Note too that these are not natural, and stem from incorrect hoof form usually due to leaving too long between trimming cycles.  For good boot fit a 4 weekly cycle is recommended. If you are on a long trim cycle between trimmer's visits sometimes its necessary to use a more high profile boot that will accomodate a little flaring.

  • Please choose carefully. Boot sizes do not equate to shoe sizes.

  • Measure carefully, use metric measurements they are more accurate.
  • Often if the horse is fresh out of long term shoeing it is necessary to choose a boot that is not close fitting for your first boot and then as the horse's hoof form improves then look to the closer fitting sytles.

If you decide to purchase through us, our staff are hoof boot experts and are always on the end of the phone to help you if you have questions.  Ph 02 4457-3022  We have on staff an Equine Podiotherapist to assist with any questions about the ways to use boots for the rehabilitation of serious hoof issues.

The amazing  GLOVE boot has recently undergone an upgrade and has some great new features!

Sold as a single boot.  "THE" boot of choice for high performance equine sports.

New for 2018, the Easyboot Glove Soft features the best parts of our gaiter over the years. The design elements customers have asked to be brought back are all here.

The soft elastic gaiter, the wider hook and loop, and the over-lap design. All to prevent rubbing and ease of application. A slim, form-fitting boot that is easy to apply. Features our best tread pattern yet, based on 40 years of experience and the latest in technology.

The Easyboot Glove Soft is a lightweight, slim profile, form-fitting boot that is easy to apply. It was designed to fit like a second skin over the hoof without adding bulk or width. This seamless boot hugs the hoof and responds like a natural foot. Flexible and tough, the Easyboot Glove Soft adds traction and protection to the hoof, while allowing a free stride and natural breakover. Like a glove, this boot provides protection without hindering mobility.

The Easyboot Glove Soft material stretches over the hoof and clings to the wall so that debris stays out of the boot even through sandy and muddy conditions. No external hardware means that there is no need to worry about grass or sticks getting caught in the boots. The elastic cap at the rear of the gaiter fits the contours of the heel bulb while offering generous proportions of stretch and strength.

Sold Individually

A Fit Kit is recommended to determine proper sizing for the Easyboot Glove.

Why you may need a Fit Kit before you buy:

If you choose a Glove Boot Equecare Down Under suggests you always fine tune your fit with a "fit kit" first.

    What is a fit kit?

A fit kit is a series of Glove boot shells with sizing above, below, and including the size that you measure too. The Glove boot being so stretchy will sometimes fit hoof sizes that fall outside the exact measurement. With a fit kit you can test several sizes to find the exact one for your horse. Note: this boot style is not recommended for horses with excessive flaring.

How to get your fit kit:

First measure your horse after a fresh trim.

Then please ring our office on 02 4457-3022 (during business hours Mon to Fri) and speak to one of our staff.

You will need to lodge a refundable deposit of $60with us so we can post your fit kit to you.

Your deposit will be returned to you less postage, once you return the kit. You can also lodge your deposit online plus your measurements if you do not need to speak to us.  Some hoof sizes are not suitable for the glove boot so if your horse has any hoof deformation issues then it is best to ring us to discuss your boot options.

Glove Boot Accessories: (listed below the boot on our shop) If you are a performance rider there are a range of accessories to enhance the fit of the glove boot if you need this.  Power Straps fit between the V at the front of the boot to keep it closed and Meuller Tape aids the contact between hoof and glove boot wall.

Flip-flop-circle-info

Something never before seen in equine hoof protection!

In Australia there are a lot of off the track thoroughbreds used as pleasure and sporting horses.  They often develop a short wide hoof shape because of their very early shoeing practices.  This is a very hard shape to fit and often does not fall into the sizing charts for boots and many of the owners of these horses have had to use steel shoes even though they would prefer boots.

The new flip flop is a hybrid of a glue on boot and a glue on shoe and the rear portion of the boot can be cut off so it is untimately adjustable.   This allows the width to be accommodated and the length to be adjusted to suit each horse.  What is great is that because they allow the hoof to breath when applied correctly they are able to stay on for the entire trim cycle.

Flip Flop sizing

Flip Flop Q & A from the Easycare Customer Service Team:

Q: How long can the Flip Flop be left on? A: The Flip Flop can be left on for the entire trim cycle.

Q: Is the Flip Flop sold in pairs? A:No, the Flip Flop is sold individually.

Q: Is there a Fit Kit for the Flip Flop? A: Yes, there is a Fit Kit available for the Flip Flop.

Q: Do I need a length measurement? A: No, to adjust the length, the Flip Flop may need to be trimmed down using nippers or a table saw.

Q: Is the sizing the same as the Glove and Glue on?A:The width measurements will be the same, the length is cut to fit.

Q: Can the Flip Flop be heat fitted? A: Yes, the Flip Flop can be heat fitted the same way the Glue-On or Glove is heat fitted.

Q: Can pour in packing be used with the Flip Flop? A: Yes, pour in packings can be used with the Flip Flop.

We recommend Vettec Equipak Soft, Glue-U Shufill Silicone or dental impression material.

Q: Which adhesive can be used when applying the Flip Flop? A: We recommend using Vettec Adhere. EasyShoe Bond Fast Set and Slow Set may also be used.

Q: Is the Flip Flop compatible with the Click Therapy System? A: Yes, the Flip Flop is compatible with the EasyCare Therapy Click System.

Q: Can the hoof prep be done with the hoof on the ground? A: Yes, since the Flip Flop's only gluing surface is on the dorsal vertical wall the horse can be standing flat if neededto keep a horse comfortable.

Q: Why is the junction at cuff and the base so thick? A: Since the back portion of the base has so much movement this thicker area insures the base will not separate from the cuff. Do not modify this with a hoof buffer or rasp this could cause the Flip Flop to fail.

Q: Is the Flip Flop a shoe or a boot? A: Both: it has the benefits of a boot but can be left on the same duration as a shoe.

Q: What is the difference between the EasyBoot Glue-On and the Flip Flop?

A: The Glue-On is only intended to stay on a maximum of 10 days where the Flip Flop may be left on for the entire trim cycle. The Flip Flop offers much more ventilation to the hoof and less chance of moisture retention.

Q: What is the difference between EasyShoes and the Flip Flop? A: The Flip Flop is much easier to apply than the EasyShoes, also the Flip Flop is compatible with the Therapy Click System, whereas the EasyShoes are not.

Q: Do I have to worry about rocks or small debris getting lodged between the base of the Flip Flop and the hoof? A: No, during testing there were no complications with anything getting lodged. We recommend checking after each ride. Adding a pour-in pad will insure nothing can become lodged in the front portion of the Flip Flop.  The flexibility in the rear part of the Flip Flop prevents anything from getting stuck in the back half of the foot.

Q: Can the Flip Flop be reset? A: No, we do not recommend resetting the Flip Flop.

Q: How do I remove the Flip Flop? A: To remove the Flip Flop, you will need to pull the base away from the hoof then cut the junction of the cuff and base, removing the entire base off of the cuff. Then, use pull-offs to carefully remove the cuff from the hoof wall.

The Therapy Boot Range -

Therapy boots are specifically designed to accommodate an injury or conditions such as laminitis.  They are lose fitting to assist with quick application as often very sore horses cannot bear weight for long.  They should be used in small turnout areas only.  If you require a more long term boot for use in larger areas then we advise you to consider one of the high profile riding boot styles which will also accommodate thick pads such as the New Mac boot.
